Welcome to the Neighborhood

Lemonade Stand.jpg
Millcreek is a family friendly neighborhood. There is a broad mix of family ages and types. Millcreek is home to new families with small children, retired couples and a whole bunch of folks who fall somewhere in between. We have a mix of those who are new to the area as well as second generation residents who grew up here and inherited or bought their homes from their parents. If you are looking for a someplace for your children to grow up in a nurturing environment this is a good choice.

Millcreek residents are proud of the neighborhood and many are lucky (or hard working) enough to win the coveted yard of the month award which is presented from April until December of each year. A group of volunteers scours the neighborhood looking for that one yard that just stands out above the rest. The winner gets to have the Yard of the Month sign grace their property until the next month when they have to give it up so the next winner can take over the honor.

Millcreek sponsors a number of holiday related events which give residents a chance to come together to get to know each other. The biggest event (by far) is the Fourth of July parade which has been done annually for more than 30 years. The Reservoir Fire Department sends one of its engines to lead the parade and residents of all ages build floats from vehicles ranging from tricycles to SUVs and trailers. Awards are given for best float in a number of categories.
There is an Easter egg hunt, usually on the Saturday prior to Easter Sunday. This is primarily for younger children but, all are invited to watch.

In late October the neighborhood sponsors a Fall Festival for neighborhood children (and for those who are young a heart, no matter what the age). This includes bargain price hot dogs and chips for all comers, face painting, games and an opportunity to visit with your neighbors.

In December the Yard of the Month contest converts to a holiday decorating contest. Millcreek is home to some of the brightest and most beautifully decorated homes in the area. Be prepared to see everything from Santa Clause to the sneaky old Grinch during his period. For those who are still in the holiday spirit after the end of the year be prepared to see some New Years themed homes as well.
